Norwood Park is known especially for its abundance of green: lawns, parks, churchyards, and trees are its visual hallmarks. ** Serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who hid the bodies of 28 young men under his house before being arrested in 1978, lived in an unincorporated area of Norwood Park Township which is adjacent to the Norwood Park neighborhood
Edgebrook was once part of the Sauganash land tract and was annexed by the city of Chicago in 1889. To the north of Edgebrook lie Wildwood and then North Edgebrook. Frequently the three communities together are referred to as "Edgebrook."
Jefferson Park is also known for having a very high number of resident city and county workers. Filled with Chicago Public School teachers and staff, Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department and Cook County Sheriff officers and staff. It is also a CTA HUB station for city buses, the blue line, Metra and taxi and carriers.
